Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Hafeez Basha
is an Indian Entrepreneur, Scientist and Professor of
Computer and Electrical Engineering; who founded the
Basha Research Corporation and Cafet-Innova Technical
Society. He is currently Consultant for
Incubation Programs at Bala Vikasa International Centre,
which is a Centre of Excellence started by a Canadian
NGO called SOPAR. He was earlier CEO for Technology Incubation
Centre at Bharat Institute of Engineering &
Technology, Hyderabad.
He was awarded with the
prestigious “Young Entrepreneur Award” by the National
Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development [NFED] India
on 7th November 2015.
Dr. Hafeez Basha was born on 29th December 1985 at
Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India to a middle class
Muslim family. His father Mr. Ranipet Imroz Basha is a
senior official at a public sector bank while his mother
Mrs. Noorunnisa was a high school teacher. He spent his
early childhood days at New Delhi and Meerut due to his
father’s frequent transfers at work. His initial talents
were first identified and encouraged by his maternal
grandfather who retired as Deputy Director of the
Government Central Printing Press, Andhra Pradesh.
He did his schooling from St. Joseph’s High School,
Trimulgherry where he also served in the National Cadet
Corps (NCC) and attended it's Annual Training Camp
twice; did his Intermediate from Gowtham Junior College,
ECIL. He did his Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Electrical
and Electronics Engineering from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU
Hyderabad). He was later sponsored by Thomson Reuters
Corporation for Master of Technology (M. Tech) in Computer Science and
Engineering from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur.
He got selected for the Monbukagakusho Scholarship by
Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Japan
to pursue his Ph. D in Renewable Energy at Graduate
School of Science and Technology, Kumamoto University,
Japan. He also received the Dean's Award for Research
Excellence during the convocation ceremony in March
2016.
Research Trainee:
Dr. Hafeez Basha started his pursuit in
research during his early days of under graduation where
he presented his papers in various symposiums and
conferences. He successfully established IEEE Student
Branch with the help of his fellow students and little
support from the faculty and management. He organized
the first college symposium in the year 2007 which
remained a benchmark with series of sequels organized
every year by his successors. He was later invited as
Chief Guest in the year 2010 by the same IEEE Student
Branch acknowledging his efforts.
During his participation in international conferences,
he got noticed by Prof. E. G. Rajan, President of
Pentagram Research Centre Pvt. Ltd., who gave him an
opportunity to work at his laboratory in his third year
of his bachelor of technology. The next year he was
elevated to handle the publications and its annual
conferences, and went on to become the Secretary for 4th
International Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and
Informatics (ICSCI 2007).
He was criticized by his faculty for his work on image
acquisition based Chaser Missile Project quoting it as
superficial, due to which he had to change his project
in order to receive his bachelor degree. He then worked
on a novel project related to Municipal Solid Waste to
Electricity at Global Renewable Energy Research
Institute, SELCO International Ltd., Hyderabad.
Corporate Jobs:
After completing his Bachelor of Technology, Hafeez
Basha started his career with Satyam Computer Services
Ltd. (now Tech Mahindra Ltd.) as Geographical
Information System (GIS) Associate. He was well known
for his superior proficiency within the team and was the
first in team to get a project; also completed his probation in four months instead of
regular six months.
He then joined the Thomson Reuters (Scientific) world’s
leading information service company providing integrated
solutions for the academic, business and R&D communities
with technologies that accelerates research, scientific
discovery, and innovation through analysis, product
development and distribution as Research Analyst in
Patents Department.
During his stay at Thomson Reuters
he was sponsored for higher education through “Learn
while you Earn” program and was able to complete his
M. Tech. After three and half years of successful
corporate career, he switched to academics with a zeal
to complete his Ph. D
Academic Career:
He joined Koneru Lakshmaiah Educational Foundation (K L University), Vijayawada in
2011 as Assistant Professor and worked as OSD to Prof.
J. S. Rao the then Protem Chancellor. He was associated
with him in researching the Thermonuclear Fusion
Reactors especially the Tokamak at Aerospace and Energy
Research Centre of the University. He led the delegation
to Institute for Plasma Research (IPR Gujarat) to study
Surya - India’s first indigenous Tokamak. He also got an
opportunity to exhibit a low cost model of Tokamak at
Birla Science Centre, Hyderabad which was supported by
IEEE Hyderabad Section.
After completing his Ph. D from Kumamoto University,
Japan he joined the Bharat Institute of Engineering and
Technology, Hyderabad as Associate Professor and Dean
R&D. He submitted DST project worth 3.4 crores as
Principal Investigator for the Indo-Japan Research
Collaboration. He was Coordinator for Industry
Institution Partnership Cell (IIPC) and signed MoU with
Reliance JIO Infocom for Training Programs and Peepal
Renewables Pvt. Ltd. to set-up 3kV Biogas Plant.
He started the IEEE Student Branch with support of 30+
student members, served as its Branch Counselor and
organized IEEE National Conference. He also established
the Technology Incubation Centre and took lead as its
CEO. He facilitated the visits of Shri. G. Jagadish
Reddy, Minister for Power, Govt. of Telangana, Dr. V. K.
Saraswat, Member NITI-Aayog and Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy,
Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister.
He is presently Consultant for Incubation
Programs at Bala Vikasa International Centre which was
started by a Canadian NGO called SOPAR. The facility is
state-of-the-art international standard 20-acre campus
at Ghatkesar, Hyderabad
which is a Centre of Excellence. He is involved in scouting innovative
social entrepreneurs and facilitate their ideation leading to
developing business concepts, and provide
competencies through capacity building and training.
Cafet-Innova Technical Society (CITS):
Dr. Hafeez Basha started a discussion group
with his classmates Nikhil Prakash and Dr. Raju Aedla in
the year 2007 called Cafet-Innova Technical Society
which met regularly to discuss scientific ideas. They
later registered it as a non-profit and professional
organization. The main objective was to encourage young
talent especially students towards research and
development. He also started a unique journal of its
kind exclusive for bachelor and master students, which
was well appreciated by many academic leaders. The
society made its presence in more than eight countries
with a track record of benefiting more than sixteen
thousand students within three years of its
establishment. The local media responded with a title “3
Idiots of Hyderabad” and gave coverage to their
activities.
Basha Research Corporation (BRCORP):
He founded the Basha Research Corporation with his family
in the year 2011 with services in IT and ITES, along
with training courses, academic event management and research
publications. He started the World Conference on Applied Sciences,
Engineering and Technology (WCSET) as an annual
conference of BRCORP hosted by various reputed
Universities worldwide.
As the Vice
President (Technology) he spearheaded the company's
technical projects especially on energy and worked
closely with Sonoda Energy Design (Japan) under the mechanisms information platform of the
Ministry of the Environment called Joint Crediting
Mechanism (JCM) that supports international stake
holders to meet the objectives of the UNFCCC. The
objective was to set-up a direct combustion Biomass
Power Plant for electricity generation at Vietnam. He
also signed an MoU with Hoa Viet Co. Ltd. on 28th October
2013 to design the plant layout. The feasibility study
on this project was caried out at Ho Chi Minh City
University of Technology. Since 2016 he is serving the
organization as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Kumamoto Gakusei Shien (Japan):
Dr. Hafeez Basha during his stay at Kumamoto University
established the Kumamoto Gakusei Shien, a non-profit
organization that addresses the problems faced by
college students worldwide through its counselling
services on various issues like Higher Education,
Research and Patents, Entrepreneurship, Technical
Training, Career Planning and Placement Opportunities.
Experts from various countries have volunteered to
support this organization with their expertise and
experience enabling platform for student development.
