Abstract: In
the field of industry safety and environment study, one
of the most intriguing issues in recent years is the
schemes to effectively improve and maintain the IAQ,
Indoor Air Quality. It is believed that the utilization
of technologies of Internet of Things (IoT) would highly
facilitate the IAQ improvement and maintenance for their
capabilities in automation, communication and especially
in sensing and detection. This paper will present a
conceptual framework for linking a sensor network and
smart devices using a intelligent gateway in Internet of
Things environment. Some air quality sensors are
utilized to observe the condition of some specific air
pollutants within an IoT communication and processing
infrastructure. Such Air Purification System is
constructed by monitoring indoor air quality index
(IAQI) real-time and automatically control of indoor air
purifier according to the index. The experiment results
indicated that integrating the sensor network into
Internet of Things was beneficial to such smart air
purification systems. This system is able to be extended
from indoor to public areas such as transport hubs and
retail malls in the future.
