Abstract:
Recently the Internet of Things (IoT) has becoming a
trend, smart building is one of these applications. With
numerous devices deploy inside the building, such as
sensors and smart devices, the quality of people’s daily
life can be improved. The amount of devices may range
from tens to thousands, thus installing these devices
may take a lot of time, and some devices also require
specified knowledge and training to install. This lead
us to the question how can we shorten the time required,
and complete the jobs more efficiently, even ordinary
people can get a device and install it easily without
professional assist. Therefore we propose a
selfconfigurable mechanism for the smart devices, with
this mechanism we can make the device connect to the
wireless network, find the management system, and make
essential configuration changes with only a few steps.
We convey a set of pre-defined network configuration
parameters read from one NFC tag to another NFC tag
cooperate with the device by using NFC-enabled device.
The device then configures itself with this information
and connects to the specified wireless network. After
that a discovery-exchange-configuration procedure is
executed to include the device into the management
system, and then we can manage and operate the device.
With this mechanism, we can deploy devices more
efficiently, and more easily, not only saving the time
needed, but also the cost required. It is both suitable
for the new buildings and old houses.
