Architectures, and Applications

Abstract: The Internet of
Things (IoT) is one of the most popular research topics
in the world in recent years. With the increasing amount
of wireless communication access devices and
semiconductor technology’s advance, IoT is expected to
provide the ability to connect the “things” embedded
with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity to
enable it to achieve service via exchanging data with
other connected devices. Such services are highly
applicable to industries, homes, energy management and
intelligence in transportation. There are more than 25
billion devices inter-connected in the world, and there
is a forecast with the devices to grow more than
two-fold by 2020. With ubiquitous sensing, the data
collected by the things will be scrambled and
unscrambled so we need to analyze the vast amount of
data by cloud computing. The IoT will bring benefits to
human life across a number of fields, including:
traffic, healthcare, energy, homes and cities. In this
paper, we would take an overview of the current IoT,
present a summary of IoT applications and depict some
the challenges of building the IoT solution.
