Abstract:
Ontologies promise solution(s) to make existing data in
the web lucidly discernible by machines. Ontological
construction is a daunting task that comprises
determining relevant concepts and their underlying
relationships. In this regard, metaontology can be
constructed using databases which assist by enriching
the latter with a set of possible relationships between
concepts pairs in the given document(s). Databases are
selected to store the relationships since they are known
to make information retrieval and updations swift. This
technique significantly improves on the time and
scalability factors when compared to existing methods.
Relationships stored in the database is further
converted into a graph to obtain inter transitive
relationships. They are appended to the ontology based
on their degree of certainty rather than relying only on
frequency as pursued in other approaches. Hence, the
proposed approach guarantees higher accuracy compared to
other approaches.
