Abstract: Study
on chemical characteristics of groundwater and impacts
of groundwater quality on human health, plant growth and
industrial sector is essential to control and improve
the water quality in every part of the country. The
present study was undertaken to assess major ion
geochemistry of groundwater to understand the
groundwater quality for promoting sustainable
development and effective management of groundwater
resources. Thirty two open and bore well samples have
been collected from the study area during the period of
August 2014 and analyzed for physic-chemical parameters
(pH, EC, TDS, TH, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, HCO3-, Cl-, SO4
2- , NO3-, F-) in order to understand the hydro
geochemistry of the water.A comparison of groundwater
quality in relation to drinking water quality standards
revealed that about major fluoride is four groundwater
locations are not suitable for drinking. The fluoride
concentration in the study area three samples are
exceeds the permissible limit. In the study area,
sufficient amount of groundwater is available for
drinking, and irrigation purposes.
