Abstract: The
extraction of β-carotene and lycopene from the aril of
Momordicacochinchinensis using supercritical carbon
dioxide with ethanol as a modifier was studied in this
work. Experimental design was used to investigate the
effect of operating pressure (20-30MPa), temperature
(313-353K), and solvent flow rate (10- 20g/min) on the
extraction yield of β-carotene and lycopene. The
statistical analysis of the experiment indicated that
the significant effects for the extraction yield of
β-carotene and lycopene were pressure and solvent flow
rate.Optimal conditions determined from the laboratory
scale were reference for determine the operation
condition for the industrial scale. The results show the
feasible and applicability of supercritical fluid
extraction carotenoids extracted from Gac fruit in
industrial scale.
