of a Small Direct Injection Diesel Engine using ISO 8178
C1

Abstract:
To study the effect of injection pressure on emission
characteristic of a small diesel engine with direct
injection type, the injection pressure is changed from
150 bars to 270 bars. Emission test cycle of ISO 8178 C1
with 8 measuring points is used. The experimental
results showed that the change of injection pressure has
significantly affected to the emission characteristics
due to the improvement of fuel-air mixture and
combustion process. Increasing of injection pressure
could reduce exhaust gas emission such as: HC, CO, and
Smoke. Under the test cycle of ISO 8178 C1, the
injection pressure of 220-250 bars could be used to
improve the emission characteristic.
