Abstract: The
corrosion inhibition effect of Ethyl-2-phenyl
hydrozono-3-oxobutyrate (EPHO) and 2-chloro-
1-benzothiophene-3-carbohydrazide (CBTC) on 6061 Al
alloy/SiCp composite in 1 M hydrochloric acid solution
at 30, 40, 50 and 60 °C has been investigated using
potentiostatic polarization technique and weight loss
method. Both EPHO and CBTC are efficient cathodic
inhibitors with 82 % and 88% inhibition efficiencies.
The adsorption of the inhibitors on the composite
surface was found to obey Langmuir adsorption isotherm
and the inhibition is governed by mixed adsorption
mechanism.
