Title:             Earthquake Response Characteristics of Masonry Infill Panels

Abstract:      Reinforced Concrete framed structures with Un-Reinforced Masonry (URM) infill panels are common worldwide. The URM panels are considered as non-structural members of the structure, which is fairly good assumption under gravity loads. However, it is not so under lateral forces. Under seismic loads, there will be significant stiffness additions, since infill panels modify the behavior of the structure significantly. A study was taken up to investigate the dynamic performance of reinforced concrete frames with and without (URM) infill panels. The details of the study are presented in this paper.
