Design of Sustainable House for Reducing Energy
Use
Authors: Harry Hansen,

Abstract: Sustainable
house design has been brought to the attention of
professionals and the community as the way of building
for the future. This design process uses environmentally
friendly products and takes into consideration the
natural environment of the site in order to maximize
energy efficiency and keep embodied energy to a minimum.
The subject house named as “Ecolive Home” is a prime
example of sustainable design taking into consideration
the environmental, social and economic impacts of
residential living. From the findings of this project it
is clear that the extra costs of building this type of
smart home in comparison to the future benefits in terms
of savings to the environment, the standard of living
and also eliminating the worry of ever inflating energy
prices is worth it.
