Abstract: The low efficiency of LPG
stove is affected by the loss of the heat to the
surrounding. The previous researches have used the
reflector to capture the potential heat loss from the
system. It has been shown that this technique can
improve the efficiency of LPG stoves. Since the
reflection of the heat radiation is emitted to all
directions, some of them may still loss to the
environment. Therefore, we propose the use of finned
reflector as the heat radiation guide to the combustion
area and the load. Our finned reflector is made from a
plate of stainless steel in the shape of cutted cone.
The efficiency is evaluated by boiling water test
technique. The performance of the LPG stove with the
finned reflector is compared to that one without
reflectors and non-finned reflector. Based on the
results of the test, it is found that the use of one
line finned reflector can improve the efficiency of LPG
stove by around 5.21% better than that one without
reflector. The efficiency of our finned reflector is
higher than non-finned reflector by 1.75%. Based on the
test of temperature distribution is obtained also that
the use of finned reflector can increase the area of
complete combustion.
