Abstract: This paper represents a
numerical evaluation of wind load analysis of buildings
with two different patterns of loading. While building a
structure, it is very important to take into
consideration as well as to apply wind load with a view
to ensuring that the structure can withstand high winds,
especially if the building is located in an area known
for inclement weather. Effect of wind loading in
buildings is explained by the exploration as point load
and line load. Generally, wind load acts as pressure
load where there are mass sources. It treats generally
as point load in practical calculations. But here we
consider it as line load and as point load to understand
the effect of the different pattern of loading. The
analyses outcome shows interesting variation in case of
lateral displacements and moments in members. It is
noted that the displacement is a bit higher for point
load while it is different in the case of moment and
shears in members. Eight different levels have been
considered in this study and comparisons between the
effect of line load and point load is reported. The
provisions of Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC)
2006 have been adopted in this research. The overall
analysis has been carried out using SAP2000 software.
