Abstract: In this research study the performance
of pre-wetted sawdust as a source of internal curing for
concrete was investigated. Primarily sawdust was used to
reduce self-weight of concrete, however it was
recognized that dry porous sawdust could absorb
sufficient amount of water that could be an effective
mean of internal curing. Pre-wetted sawdust was used to
partially replace the sand and specimens were covered in
polythene bags. Different trials were performed on
sawdust lightweight concrete with internal and external
curing and tested for compressive strength. Compressive
strength results were compared with normal density
concrete to draw conclusions.
